10 Important Things Da’Grin Said In His Lyrics + Meanings
To some of his fans he died just few months ago, but in reality it is already a decade since the death of Nigeria’s indigenous rap sensation, Da’Grin who is known on the Streets as Chief Executive Omo-Ita (CEO).
Da’Grin, whose real name is Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun hails from Ijebu, Ogun State. He peaked in his career as an indigenous rapper at a time when Nigerian musicians and their hypemen placed focus on the hip-hop lifestyles of the likes of 50 Cents and Jay Z. He was alone armed with his lyrics, rhymes and authentic street attitude which best described his game.
He enjoyed the music for a rather short time after releasing his most sought album, CEO before he was involved in a ghastly car accident where he was alone in his car. He battled for his life for a whole week at the popular Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH before finally giving up the ghost on April 22nd, 2010.
