Badagry Holds First Ever Social Media Awards, Over 24 Awards Won

It was an unprecedented atmosphere in the city of Badagry as City Mood Magazine hosted the first ever #BadagrySocialMediaAwards2019 with the presence of community members, entertainment stakeholders and other enthusiasts at the Hunwaji Event Centre, Badagry.

The event was witnessed in a relaxed atmosphere as nominees were rewarded for their efforts in deploying the social media in enhancement of their private and business life.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the maiden award ceremony which took place on Sunday according to the organizers was borne out of the sole desire to make Badagry attractive to the outside world such that it becomes the perfect tourist destination and to be among divisions within the state with such lofty concept.

While receiving his honorary award, ace actor, Segun Arinze commended the organizers for a programme well organized which in his summation has projected the image of Badagry in a positive light. He also urged members of the audience to reach out to the government of the day to urgently fix the poor state of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Speaking on behalf of City Mood Magazine, the brain behind the award event, Swehude Akande who is the publisher of the publication, enlightened members of the audience to be careful about how they use the social media as the internet never forgets.

“This award ceremony is to celebrate the potency of the Social Media and how it is changing the lives of those who use it in the positive light. I urged us all to be careful about what we post online because the internet never forgets what we once said either good or bad,”

While about 65 distinguished nominees slugged it out in 23 categories, 8 individuals who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields and have impacted Badagry significantly were bestowed the honourary award.

The honorary phase saw individuals like ace actor; Segun Arinze, Celebrity Chef/BBNaija Housemate Season 2; Myonse Amosu, Film/ T. V Producer/ Director; Victor Sanchez Aghahowa, President, BACCIMA/ Chairman Fams Embassy; Ach. Adegboyega F. Shokunbi, Event Planner / Community Leader; Bisi Onala- Nyemenim and Board member, Lagos State Council for Arts & Culture all emerged as winners.

In the other phase, MC Freedom emerged as the Best Use of Social Media; Entertainment, Royal Spry Schools as Best Use of Social Media; Education, HRM Oba Kweme as Best Use of Social Media; Royalty, Fams Embassy as Best Use of Social Media; Corporate Brands, Zosu Solomon as Best Use of Social Media; Media aide, Sewedo Samuel as Best Use of Facebook, while Bisi Onala as Most Influential Female on Social Media.

Also, Clean up Badagry (ACI Badagry Team) emerged the Best Use of Social Media; Social Good, Arch Miyise Fasinu as Influential Male on Social Media, Mr. Babatunde Hunpe as Best Use of Social Media; Political Office Holder and Political Candidate, Badagry-West LCDA as Best Use of Social Media; Local Government, Whispering Palms as Best Use of Social Media; Tourism / Hospitality, Badagry Prime as Best Use of Social Media; News Media and Sewedo Samuel’s #Ji Masun Best Use of Social Media; Social Trends.
