Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, is set to make his entry into politics with plans to contest a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The move, which had earlier stirred conversations across social media, was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the late president. Ahmad disclosed that Yusuf has formally communicated his intention to political stakeholders after holding a series of consultations.

According to details of a letter dated April 3, Yusuf is seeking to represent the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua federal constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the letter, he expressed a desire to provide effective leadership and drive development within the constituency.

Ahmad, in a post shared on X, noted that the decision followed extensive engagement with key figures, signaling that the younger Buhari is preparing for a structured political outing rather than a spontaneous bid.

“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress”, he stated.

Yusuf Buhari has largely remained out of political spotlight since his father left office, making this declaration his most notable political step so far. His potential candidacy is expected to generate significant interest, particularly within political circles in Katsina State and beyond.
