The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reacted with disbelief after an acclaimed real estate agent whose username is osere_x listed the commission’s headquarters for sale on social media, sparking widespread reactions online.
The unusual listing, which surfaced on X has gone viral having more than 411k impressions with 818 reposts and over 494 comments, sparking different reactions on regards to government institutions.
The post advertised the EFCC headquarters as a hotel available for purchase located in Abuja, complete with images and a description that the price is 800millions while the Agent fee is 120millions.
Part of the description shows, “… Only serious buyers should DM”, indicating that the alleged property is for those who have the means to purchase it.
Responding to the post, the anti-graft agency responded with shock and questioned the audacity of the individual behind it.
In a short but pointed reaction that quickly went viral, the EFCC wrote: “Hmmm… You get mind oooo.”
The comment, delivered in Nigerian Pidgin, conveyed shock and sarcasm, and immediately drew attention from social media users, many of whom described the alleged listing as both absurd and reckless.
While the EFCC did not immediately disclose whether the individual behind the post would face investigation or sanctions, the agency’s response signalled that the claim was false and misleading.
The incident has since reignited conversations about fake property listings, online scams, and the growing trend of individuals advertising properties they have no legal authority over.
As of the time of filing this report, the controversial listing has either been taken down or is no longer publicly accessible, but screenshots continue to circulate online.
