Federal lawmaker, Hon Babajimi Benson has admonished the Nigerian youth to reawaken themselves to help rejuvenate the sleeping country so as to maintain its status as Giant of the continent.

In his message to commemorate the International Youth Day, Hon Benson called on the Youth to be prepared to make the country great again. He revealed that there was need for them to take advantage of their population to make things better.

He noted that, “with Nigeria’s population projected to grow from the current 180 million to 392 million by 2050 with the youth population constituting over half of the figure, Nigeria will be the fourth most populous Nation, undoubtedly, there is great strength in quality numbers.

So our youths should strive to maximize every opportunity given to them, while volunteering, internship and mentorship would help propel their growth.”

In same vein, Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Mayor Dele Oshinowo disclosed that he was appreciative to witness another International Youth Day.

He reiterated that a day like this is a clarion call for all youth across the globe to act as vanguard of peace with this year’s theme, Youth Building Peace. He stated that if this year’s theme is adhered to, the ills ravaging the society will not be witnessed across the world.

Hon Oshinowo revealed that the atmosphere currently in his community is an attitudinal reflection of the people and assured that his adminitsration is working fervently to create a niche of success for the youth.

He said, “To my fellow youth, it is time for us to be thoughtful and see the future ahead as an opportunity to remain committed to peace, which is a perseverance for greatness in the trajectory of one’s life.

Altogether, I rejoice with the youth specifically the ones residing in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, whom I regard as worthy role models for others to emulate.
