The Lagos State Chapter of the Yoruba Youth Council have sent warning to some Northerners who have not been according Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN due respects as the Acting President of Nigeria.
In a statement signed by Com Lekan Biliamin-Obaa, the Council revealed that they are strongly behind the Vice President as he oversees the function of ailing President, Muhammadu Buhari who is recuperating in far away London.
The Council also disclosed that the group disregarding the stance of Osinbajo may mean treason as defined by the Constitution.
Billiamin-Obaa said, “The attention of the Yoruba Youth Council, Lagos State chapter has being drawn to the inappropriate regard from the Northerners towards the office of the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
Citing Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution.
“That section says, ‘Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as Acting President.”
Obaa disclosed that the matter was discussed at the Council meeting and had to give it utmost attention so as to prevent breakdown of law and order.
