“I Wrote UTME For 7 Years”, LASU Best Graduating Student Reveals

Today, Wednesday, 22nd March, 2017 will go down as a glorious day in the life of Orefunwa Elizabeth Remilekun, a Chartered Accountant (2010) and graduate of Accounting Education as she clinched the Overall Best Graduating Student Award of Lagos State University for the 2015/2016 Academic Session, at the University’s 21st Convocation Ceremonies with a CGPA of 4.74.

With a smile of satisfaction on her face, Orefunwa, an expectant mother, stood tall and proud as she posed for pictures with the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, after she was called to receive her prize at the University Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo.

In her speech, she admitted that after writing the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examination for seven years in a bid to gain admission into the University without success, she gave up and lost any hope of furthering her education.

The un-relentless encouragement from her elder sister and her father, which she simply called ‘Old Soldier’ eventually saw her gaining admission into the University in 2012 to study Accounting Education.  She advised students still in the University never to give up in the face of daunting challenges.

Orefunwa’s award was the high point of the day as the University awarded Diplomas and First Degrees to deserving graduands on the Day 6 of the ongoing 21st Convocation Ceremonies.

The Grand Finale of the 21st Convocation Ceremonies will come up tomorrow Thursday 21st March, 2017 at the University Auditorium, Main Campus , Ojo.
