Global Afrobeat Star, Wizkid, is opening up like never before in a new documentary titled Love Live Lagos, set to premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival 2025.

The film traces his inspiring journey from the streets of Lagos to the global stage, highlighting the passion, perseverance, and people behind his meteoric rise.

Scheduled to be screened on June 6, 7, and 11, the documentary offers a rare, inspiring look into the life and legacy of one of Africa’s most influential music act.

Directed by popular filmmaker Karam Gill, Love Live Lagos captures not just the artist’s evolution, but also the cultural wave he has led, helping to reshape how African music and identity are viewed worldwide.

The documentary includes exclusive interviews with those closest to Wizkid including Femi Kuti, a five-time Grammy nominee and Afrobeat legend, his longtime manager Sunday Are, his manager and Baby mama, Jada Pollock, British media personality Julie Adenuga, and Grammy winner, Seni Saraki, among others.

More than a chronicle of success, Love Live Lagos is also a heartfelt tribute. Wizkid uses the film to thank his global fan base for their unwavering support through the years.

“This story is as much about me as it is about all of you who’ve stood by me, streamed the music, shown up to the shows, and believed in the journey,” he shared on his Instagram page.

The artist will also take part in a special discussion at Tribeca alongside director Karam Gill, where he’ll speak more deeply about his life, career, and the movement that Afrobeat has become on the global stage.

Coming five years after his short film for the Made in Lagos (Deluxe) album, Love Live Lagos positions Wizkid among a select group of African icons including Fela Kuti and William Onyeabor whose stories have been immortalized on film.

As he shares his story with the world, Wizkid’s message remains one of the most celebrated African act.
