Nigerian singer, Wizkid has continued to make a name for himself in the music scene both home and abroad as he made the list of the 64th prestigious Grammy Awards.
The Recording Academy revealed the nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards in a live stream on Tuesday.
The music superstar was listed under two categories — ‘Best Global Music Performance’ (Essence ft Tems) and the ‘Best Global Music Album’ (Made in Lagos).
Wizkid’s hit track, ‘Essence’ would be battling against Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy’s ‘Do Yourself’, Femi Kuti’s ‘Pa Pa Pa’, among others in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category.
The Afrobeat star’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album was nominated for Best Global Music Album, alongside Femi Kuti and Made Kuti’s Legacy +, Angelique Kidjo’s Mother Nature and Rocky Dawumi’s Voice of Bunbon Volume.
The Grammy Award ceremony will take place on Monday, 31 January 2022 on CBS Television Network.
Wizkid had over the weekend won 3 awards at the 2021 AFRIMA awards. He was named the Wizkid was named Best African Artiste of the Year. The “Joro” crooner also went home with plaques for Song of the Year and Best African Collaboration awards.
