In a bid to enhance the efficiency and speed of emergency response, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun has introduced a cutting-edge smart policing initiative.
The newly launched app against crime, ‘Police-VGS Quick Emergency Reporting and Response System (QERRS)’, was unveiled on Tuesday in Abuja.
According Egbetokun, the program is set to transform the way the police respond to emergencies, ensuring rapid reaction and referral during a wide range of situations, including accidents, natural disasters, medical emergencies, criminal incidents, and information sharing.
The IGP explained that with a simple swipe on a phone, emergency notifications will be instantly dispatched to a dedicated team of police operatives.
“With the swipe of a button on a phone, emergency notifications will be sent directly to a dedicated team of police operatives.
“The operatives will ensure a swift, live and coordinated response in the shortest possible time,” he said.
He stressed that the initiative would make huge impact in saving lives, combatting crimes and securing communities.
Furthermore, the Police-VGS QERRS program, according to him, is an additional option to the previously introduced C4i-NPF Rescue Me App, showcasing the Nigeria Police Force’s steadfast commitment to public safety and security.
He therefore urged the public to wholeheartedly embrace this innovative solution, adding that it paves the way for a safer and more secure society for all.
