The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has sealed off the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja, along with 4,793 other properties, for unpaid ground and tenancy rent.

The properties include an Access Bank branch and a Total petrol station in Wuse, Abuja.

The FCTA, led by Minister Nyesom Wike, had announced the enforcement drive earlier, stating that defaulters would be sealed off.

The PDP secretariat, located at Wadata Plaza, was among those sealed off on May 26, 2025.

According to documents, the property occupied by Access Bank was allocated to Rana Tahir Furniture Nigeria Limited, which had failed to pay ground rent for 34 years.

The FCTA revoked the company’s rights over the property, citing continued default.

The FCTA also shut down the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office in Abuja for similar violations.

Officials said several notices had been issued to defaulters since 2023, warning them to clear outstanding ground rent obligations.

The enforcement drive aims to recover unpaid ground rent from defaulters, with the FCTA insisting that the action is in line with the law.

The sealed properties include government institutions and private organizations.
