Unsavoury narratives clouded the exit of immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, as he was seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), less than 24 hours after he handed over power to Professor Charles Soludo on Thursday.
This came hours after news broke out his wife, Ebelechukwu Obiano was engaged in a public fight with Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Biafra warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.
The outgoing First Lady, according to reports, was allegedly slapped by the former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain during the inauguration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo as the new Governor of Anambra State, Thursday at the Government House, Awka.
As seen in a now-viral video, Ebelechukwu stood up from her seat and moved to where Bianca was seated and spoke to her in a rude manner — according to some reports.
Apparently angered by Ebelechukwu’s remarks, Bianca rose and gave her a slap which led a commotion. It took the intervention of security operatives present to resolve the fight.
While reactions continue to trail both incidents, one major takeaway from the ordeal of the Obianos is the oft-cited fact that power is transient: one moment you are in power, enjoying the gains of office. The next, you are literally on your own.
Obiano, who was reportedly headed for Texas, United States of America, landed behind the bars of the anti-graft agency, after his wife who was said to be a powerful figure in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State was publicly disgraced. The rise and fall of the Obianos would definitely be a blockbuster movie.
