The presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is, no doubt, the most talked-about event in Nigeria at the moment. The event which is ongoing at Eagle Square in Abuja has enjoyed widespread media coverage from both traditional and new platforms.
However, unlike their counterparts, the Lagos State Television (LTV), a state-owned television station, failed to broadcast the event, leaving many viewers to wonder what went wrong.
While other stations like Silverbird TV, Arise News, Television Continental (TVC), Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Ogun State Television (OGTV) were live-streaming the event, LTV was showing a music video as at 11.22 pm on Tuesday night.
Findings by BlackBox Nigeria reveal that the reason for this situation is due to lack of the required technical support.
A staff who is presently at the venue of the APC presidential primary was said to have lamented over the failure of the station to provide a makeshift studio and streaming equipment, a situation he considered demeaning to the image of LTV.
“I really wish we won’t be found in an environment where our professionalism, sense of duty and all that would be put to test,” the disappointed staff said.
About four years ago, this medium reported the controversial deal for the purchase of an Outside Broadcasting Van (OBVan) for the television station. The deal from our findings, was a conduit pipe to siphon money through LTV, involving a former Commissioner in the state, Steve Ayorinde.
