War In Ibadan As Deposed Iyaloja Drags Olubadanto Court

Chief Labake Lawal, the former Iyaloja of Ibadan land has dragged the traditional leadership of the town to an Oyo State High Court after she was removed from her position.

The former leader of the market-women dragged the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the Olubadan-in-Council and the newly installed Iyaloja, Chief Iswat Ameringun to Court over what she has since tagged as illegal removal.

It was gathered that the Olubadan had earlier in May 2017 warned Lawal to stop parade herself as the Iyaloja or she faces the wrath of the law after the latter was heard on radio still decorating herself as the title holder.

With no prior notice, Lawal was removed in March 2017 after 11 years as Iyaloja and Oba Saliu installed Ameringun as the new Iyaloja on March 20th, 2017, declaring that there is no parallel office except the real office occupied by Ameringun.

Lawal is now praying to the Court to restrain the monarch and his High Chiefs from empowering the newly installed Iyaloja as she still posses the certificate of office presented to her when she was appointed. She also demanded that the Court stop Ameringun from parading herself as the title holder.
