WAEC Temporarily Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results Over Technical Glitches

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the temporary suspension of access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates following the discovery of technical issues during an internal review.

In a press release issued on Thursday, WAEC disclosed that the glitches were linked to a post-result release procedure involving a newly introduced paper serialization system, aimed at curbing examination malpractice.

The innovation, which was applied to key subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics, revealed unforeseen bugs during internal audits.

The Council described the move as necessary to maintain fairness, accuracy, and professionalism in the result processing system.

“The Council, being a responsive body… decided to urgently review and correct the technical glitches,” the statement read.

As a result, students and schools have been temporarily denied access to the result checker portal.

However, WAEC assured that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours, and candidates who previously checked their results are advised to re-check after this period.

The Council extended apologies to all affected candidates and urged for patience as it works “with transparency and urgency” to correct the issue.

WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering excellence and maintaining integrity in its examination processes.
