The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the May/June 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.

The announcement was made on Monday, August 4, 2025, by WAEC’s Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, at the Council’s headquarters in Yaba, Lagos.

A total of 1,973,253 candidates from 23,554 approved secondary schools across Nigeria participated in the examination.

Of these, 38.32% achieved credit passes in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

This marks a 33.8% decline from the 72.12% pass rate recorded in the previous year.

Candidates are advised to access their results by visiting the official WAEC result portal.

To check the results, candidates will need their examination number, WAEC result checker PIN, and serial number as printed on their e-PIN voucher.

Dr. Dangut also announced that digital copies of candidates’ certificates will be available on the WAEC digital certificate platform, facilitating easier access for candidates and institutions.

The release of the 2025 WASSCE results is timely for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Many universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education have commenced their admission processes, with several institutions already conducting post-UTME screenings.
