WAEC Debunks Fake List of Schools with Cancelled Results, Warns Public Against Misinformation

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has urged the public to disregard a circulating message claiming that the results of several secondary schools across Nigeria have been cancelled due to examination malpractice.

In a statement released via its official channels on Tuesday morning, WAEC described the message as fake and misleading, warning the public not to rely on any information not issued through its accredited platforms or verified media outlets.

“Kindly ignore any message listing schools whose results were supposedly cancelled. Meanwhile, WAEC will never ask any centre to bring scripts of candidates to the office. Where would they get them from?” the statement read.

WAEC emphasized that all official communications regarding examination matters are only made through its official social media handles and recognized media organizations.

It added that no examination centre or school has been asked to submit candidates’ scripts to any of its offices.

The Council warned against the spread of false information, especially during the sensitive post-examination period when candidates and parents are eagerly awaiting results.

WAEC has not issued any updated list of schools with cancelled or withheld results as of the time of this report.

The Council reiterated its commitment to transparency, credibility, and due process in all matters relating to the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Students, parents, and school administrators are advised to stay alert, avoid unverified messages, and rely only on WAEC’s official updates.
