A short video circulating on social media has put Starville School in Jahi under intense public scrutiny, raising questions about school discipline, parental rights, and how educational institutions handle serious complaints.

In the footage, the parents of a pupil argue forcefully with a teacher inside what appears to be a school meeting room. The teacher eventually admits to slapping the child, saying he “reacted” after the student pushed him. According to a public statement from Edbridge Legal, the law firm representing the parents, this is not an isolated incident: they allege the pupil has been repeatedly bullied and physically assaulted by this teacher, leading to complaints of headaches and blurred vision.

Although Starville School has not responded publicly with a detailed statement, media and legal representatives have made several claims. Edbridge Legal, which is representing the parents, says their child was expelled following the confrontation ,allegedly without a proper investigation or a fair hearing. The parents also claim the school recorded their meeting with the teacher and later shared it online.

On social media, some parents and other users have described Starville as a well disciplined, structured school. Several insist that the pupil provoked the confrontation by pushing the teacher. None of these social media claims have been independently confirmed by the school.

This is fueling a wider debate on social media, but how much power do parents have when schools allegedly fail their children? And what mechanisms should be in place to protect both students and staff? The public is waiting and watching to see whether Starville will finally come forward with its side of the story.
