Viral Post Alleges Over 45 Deaths at Nigerian based Indian Company, Calls for Urgent Government Probe

A viral social media post has alleged that more than 45 workers have died from serious health complications called silicosis linked to their employment at ARAP, an Indian-owned company operating in Ogun State, Nigeria, sparking calls for urgent government intervention.

The post obtained by BlackBox Nigeria, shared by a user identified as odogwukiwi, criticised Nigerians for focusing on online entertainment while, according to the writer, serious national issues demand attention.

“Very serious health concerns have been raised regarding workers in an Indian company operating here in Nigeria. According to reports and records, there have been over 45 deaths linked to health complications as a result of working for this particular company called ARAP, and many are asking questions,” the post stated.

In the video accompanying the post, a worker was had been affected by the silica dust reported to have counted the number of colleagues death to more than 45.

However, he insisted that the matter requires immediate and transparent investigation by relevant authorities.

“This is a matter that requires urgent attention and proper investigation. We urge the government to step in, ensure transparency, and prioritise the safety of workers,” the post added, while also calling for compassion and assistance for an affected worker reportedly undergoing treatment.

The allegations, which remain unverified as of press time, have triggered reactions online, with some users demanding that the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and other regulatory bodies investigate the claims.

Others cautioned against drawing conclusions until official findings are released.

ARAP has yet to publicly respond to the allegations, and there has been no official confirmation from government agencies regarding the reported deaths.
