Nigerian international and Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen has been honoured as Sportsman of the Year at the 2025 GQ Türkiye Men of the Year Awards in Turkey.

The 26‑year‑old striker received the prestigious award on Wednesday night at a gala event in Istanbul, celebrating his outstanding contributions to football both domestically and internationally.

Osimhen was recognised for his remarkable 2024–25 season with Galatasaray, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s success by scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists in 41 matches, helping secure both the Turkish Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.

His prolific performances also convinced Galatasaray to make his transfer from Napoli permanent in a club‑record €75 million deal.

Despite battling injuries earlier this season, Osimhen has continued his rich vein of form, netting 11 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.

In his acceptance speech, Osimhen thanked the organisers, his club, teammates and supporters, expressing gratitude for the honour and reaffirming his commitment to giving his best on and off the pitch.

The award highlights Osimhen’s growing influence in world football and cements his status as one of the continent’s most electrifying talents.
