Victims of Lagos gas explosion recount losses

Some victims of the early Thursday gas explosion at the Baruwa area of Lagos State, have continued to count their losses.

Most of the victims are traders with shops located close to the site of the explosion.

A resident, one Mojeed Taiwo, said he discovered the gas leakage around 4 a.m.

A shop owner, Seyi Adeleke, said he lost over 2 million naira worth of musical instruments to the fire.

Another resident, Akande Abdulwaheed, said to curb accidents like this, government must ban gas stations in residential areas.

Gbenga Abimboye, the Councilor of the area said before the unfortunate incident, they had complained to the owners of the gas terminal.

At least, five people were confirmed dead in the incident which occurred while by an LPG tanker was discharging at the Best Roof Gas Station.
