Nollywood icon Idowu Philips popularly known as Iya Rainbow has marked her 83rd birthday amid celebrations across the film industry.
Known for her vibrant screen presence and longevity, Mama Rainbow also celebrated a remarkable 60 years on stage, reflecting a career deeply woven into the fabric of Yoruba and Nigerian cinema.
In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram page, she expressed gratitude for life, strength, and purpose.
“Happy 83rd birthday & 60 years on stage to me. What a journey,” she wrote, thanking God, her family, and fans for their unending support.
Actress Philips began acting in the 1960s, initially involved in theatre troupes. Over the decades, she moved into film and television, building a portfolio of roles that span generations of Nigerian viewers.
She also paid tribute to her son and longtime manager, Femi Phillips, calling him her “pillar and daily joy.”
Her celebratory posts included elegant photographs of herself in a green bodycon dress, eliciting admiration from fans and colleagues alike.
