The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has debunked circulating rumours about the death of veteran actor and cultural icon, Chief Olalere OsunPaimo, popularly known as Baba Eda.

In an official statement issued by the National PRO of ANTP, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the association confirmed that Chief Paimo is “alive and in good health,” dismissing reports of his death as false and misleading.

The clarification comes after several posts surfaced on Facebook claiming that the iconic Yoruba actor had passed away.

The ANTP, however, revealed that they have spoken directly with Baba Eda’s wife, who confirmed that he is well.

“We urge everyone to disregard these false reports being spread by unscrupulous individuals,” the statement read.

“Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ANTP, is alive and well.”

The association also advised the public to verify news before sharing, to curb the spread of misinformation.

Chief Lere Paimo, a celebrated figure in Nigerian theatre and film, holds the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) and continues to be a respected elder in the creative industry.
