“Use The Money For Youth Empowerment” – Soun Of Ogbomoso Replies Makinde Over N100m Pledge
The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewunmi Ajagungbade III has advised Governor Seyi Makinde to use the funds pledged for the renovation of his palace for youth empowerment in Ogbomoso.
In a letter dated 23rd October, 2020 addressed to the Governor, the Soun appreciated the kind gesture of the State Government earmarking N100m for the renovation of his palace which was invaded by angry mob after a resident, Jimoh Isiaq was killed by a stray bullet fired by Police officer during an #EndSARS protest in Ogbomoso.
It will be recalled that the Governor on visiting the palace and seeing the wreckage caused by the invasion had pledged N100m to renovate the palace. This pledge however got so many reactions from social media users.
In the letter sighted by BlackBox Nigeria, the Soun acknowledged receipt of N10m from the State Government and requested that the remaining N90m be used for youth empowerment in his town. He maintained that it is extremely important the youth are empowered in order for them to contribute meaningfully to the State’s development.
