The US Embassy has given a notice that there’s possible elevated risk of terror attack in Abuja, the Capital territory of Nigeria.
On their site on Sunday, the embassy disclosed that the attack might particularly be on government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping malls, hotels, bars, restaurants, athletic gatherings, transport terminals, law enforcement facilities, and international organizations.
The purpose of the US Embassy is to assist American citizens that travel to the host community. They help U.S. businesses find partners and customers and may train the host government’s police and military to support better security in the country. They also sponsor educational, professional, and cultural exchanges to introduce emerging and established leaders to the United States and to promote ties between U.S. and foreign students, academics, scientists, entrepreneurs, political, religious, and civil society figures.
The precautionary measures given by the Embassy includes; avoiding all non-essential travel or movement, staying away from crowds and personal security plans should be reviewed.
Moreso, it warns people to always stay alert and to always be with a proper Identification Card.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Security Service, (DSS) Abuja has also urged the populace to stay alert and report any criminal act to the appropriate authority.
Following the notice sent by the UK Embassy, the Public Relation officer of the Department, Peter Afunya released a statement today stating that the precaution should be taken by everyone.
The Statement read “The Department of State Services (DSS) has received several enquiries relating to the security advisory issued by the US Embassy in Abuja, today, 23/10/22. The public may 5th 1jrecall that the Service had variously issued similar warnings in the past.
While advising that necessary precautions are taken by all and sundry, the populace is enjoined to remain alert and assist security agencies with useful information regarding threats and suspicious criminal acts around them. Meanwhile, the Service calls for calm as it works with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to maintain peace and order in and beyond Abuja”
