It appears another clergyman will be ditching pastoral duties for monarchical roles. The Lead Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House DC, Washington, United States, Pastor Ghandi Olaoye has reportedly resigned from his position to occupy the vacant royal stool of the Soun of Ogbomosho, a first-class traditional ruler in Oyo State.
This comes after Olaoye was nominated and selected as the Soun-elect by the Ogbomosho kingmakers.
The immediate past Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewunmi Ajagungbade III, joined his ancestors in 2021.
Born and raised in Nigeria, the Soun-elect was a successful entrepreneur before he became a pastor in 1992. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Masters in Industrial and Labour relations.
Olaoye, a widely practised Christian leader for over three decades, is currently the coordinator in charge of the Convention and Special Projects for RCCG, North America.
His imminent emergence as the next Soun of Ogbomosho will see him switch from the pulpit and embrace the traditional practices of the town.
