The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the shooting of a Nollywood Actor and movie director, Azeez Ijaduade, on his neck, mistakenly by one of its officers.
In a statement released to newsmen in the state, on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola revealed that it was a mobile policeman attached to a Chinese expatriate who discharged the shot into the air.
According to Odutola, the incident happened during an event at the Bramaj Company end-of-year party hosted at Napoli Hotel in Iperu area of the state.
She further explained that the hotel manager, Fakoya Adewale, promptly reported the incident to the Ogun State Police Command, detailing how the ammunition shell from the reckless shot struck Azeez Ijaduade on the neck.
Revealing the condition of the actor, she said he is in a stable condition and could talk, adding that he would be discharged very soon.
The statement read “the Ogun State Police Command received a report of a shooting incident on the 23rd of December 2023 at about 11:24hrs from one Fakoya Adewale “m” Napoli Hotel manager In Iperu where he reported to the Divisional Police Officer that during Bramaj Company end of year party in the hotel a mobile Policeman attached to the Chinese expatriate expended a shot into the air and unfortunately the ammunition shell hit one Azeez Ijaduade “m “an actor on the neck.
“He was rushed to hospital in Ilishan and he is in a very stable condition.
“The Commander Mopol 16 has contacted the actor and also visited him in the hospital where he will be discharged soon. The Commander has also taken up responsibility for the medical bill.
“The actor speaking to the Commander Mopol 16 has confirmed he is in stable condition ,members of the public will be notified when he is discharged.
“The Mobile Policeman have been identified and investigation into the shooting incident has commenced by the Command,members of the public will be updated accordingly.”
BBN earlier reported that Ijaduade’s colleague, Abiodun Adebanjo took to his Instagram page to seek help and draw attention to the unfortunate incident.
Azeez Ijaduade is the son of popular thespian, Waheed Ijaduade also known as Dimeji.
Ijaduade had revealed that he started acting at age of one year old.
