World class tennis player, Rafael Nadal extended his lead over Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in their Grand Slam title race as he claims his 22nd Grand Slam title after triumphing over Casper Ruud in the final of French Open men’s singles event, at the Court Philipp-Chatrier.
The Spaniard continued his unbeaten run in finals at the French Open, defeating Ruud 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 to clinch his record-extending 14th Roland Garros. He also became the oldest player to win the French Open.
Despite being broken early on his second serve, Nadal responded with two breaks of his own before sealing the second set 6-3. Earlier, Nadal won the first set 6-3 after breaking Ruud’s serve twice. The Norwegian did manage to break back Nadal once but his poor first serve percentage saw him come out as the second best in the tournament.
The 36-year-old rolled the clock back in the third set and won it without even dropping a game, yet again living up to his nickname, “King of Clay.
