Tragedy struck the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), following the death of a 300-level student, Chrisantus Chukwuebuka Nwankwo, popularly known as DJ Brownlex, who lost his life in a road accident on his way to a concert in Enugu.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening , November 1, along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway. Nwankwo was travelling with other students when the bus they boarded reportedly collided with a stationary trailer. The impact claimed the lives of the driver and Nwankwo on the spot, while several others sustained serious injuries.
The injured students are currently receiving treatment at Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, where medical personnel are said to be making efforts to stabilize their condition. Among the victims are two 300-level students who remain unconscious and a final-year student battling a severe head injury.
Nwankwo, a talented disc jockey widely known across campus for his vibrant personality and musical skills, was a student in the Department of Economics. His sudden death has thrown the university community into mourning, with classmates and friends expressing deep grief over his passing.
He was laid to rest on Sunday, November 2, in his hometown, where relatives, colleagues, and well wishers gathered to pay their final respects.
As of press time, the university authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
