The Kano State Ministry of Education has approved a 10-day holiday for all public and private primary and post-primary schools in the state to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Aliyu Yusuf, the ministry’s spokesperson, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday.
The break commences on Thursday, July 7 and ends on Sunday, July 17, as the ministry warned that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against defaulting students.
“The ministry, therefore, directed that all SS3 students writing NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS examinations as well as students on an exchange programme from other states at GSS Gwarzo and GGSS Shekara are to remain in their respective schools,” the statement read in part.
“Similarly the ministry has directed all Head Teachers and Principals to ensure that boarding students return to their schools on Sunday, July 17, while Day students resume on Monday, July 18, 2022, respectively, as normal academic activities will start on the resumption day.”
It would be recalled that the Federal Government, on Thursday, declared Monday July 11, and Tuesday, July 12 as public holidays for the 2022 Sallah celebration.
