The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has expelled nine students from various faculties for their involvement in examination malpractice, reaffirming the institution’s strict stance against academic dishonesty.
The affected students, whose names and departments were published internally for reference and deterrence, were found guilty after being tried by the institution’s disciplinary committee.
The offenses reportedly occurred during the just-concluded academic session.
According to internal sources, the expelled students are: Abiodun, Department of Library and Information Science; Bankole, Department of Political Science; Ojoibukun, Department of Information and Communication Science; Ebaloba, Department of Library and Information Science; Ajayi, Department of Philosophy; Osanaja, Department of Chemistry; Yahya, Department of Physiotherapy; Bankole, Department of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management and Olasunkanmi, Department of Information and Communication Science
The university noted that the decision is in line with its zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice, urging all students to uphold academic integrity and shun all forms of cheating.
A university staff member who spoke anonymously stated, “In whatever you do in this school, avoid examination malpractice. I don’t think there’s forgiveness for it.”
Pictures of the affected students were also attached to the official internal notice to serve as a deterrent to others.
