Prof Remi Anifowose is dead.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. He must have been just 82. May God grant his family the courage to bear the terrible loss.

He has run the race well considering his serious illness when we were on a five weeks academic visit to the People’s Republic of Korea in 1982. That was at the invitation of the Social Science Academy a participant in the governance of that country.

Remi as we fondly called him, was a scholar who very easily got along with colleagues and students alike. Quite and unassuming he would not willingly hurt a fly. Generous almost to a fault, Remi, who graduated top of his class at the University of Ibadan, will be terribly missed.

Our prayer is that the good he was able to do while on Earth be not interred with his bones. Remi, fare thee well.

Prof Alaba Ogunsawo.
