A man, living in the United Kingdom, is facing deportation after his wife dumped him at the airport and took their children with her.
The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, came to the UK last month with his children as dependents to join his wife, who had been studying in the country since last year.
It was gathered the he had sold everything he had in Nigeria to help pay for her fees and support her education.
However, when they arrived at the airport, his wife asked to see their children’s passports and then told him that their marriage was over and she wanted nothing to do with him.
She took their children and left him stranded at the airport, without any money or contacts.
He had never been to the UK before and had no idea what to do.
According to a family friend, who posted his story on Facebook, the Home Office has given him until January 1st to return to Nigeria or face deportation.
He has nothing to go back to and may never see his children again.
The family friend is appealing to anyone who can help him find a job with sponsorship so that he can stay and fight for his children.
He is also looking for legal advice and emotional support.
The family friend wrote: “I am pleading with anyone who can help him with a job referral so that he can stay and fight for his children.
“If you know of any job openings or can put him in touch with someone who might be able to help, please reach out to me. I would be incredibly grateful.”
The post has received hundreds of comments and shares, with many people expressing sympathy and outrage at the man’s situation.
The man’s wife has not responded to the allegations and her whereabouts are unknown.
It is unclear why she decided to end their marriage and take their children away from him, however, it was rumoured that he maltreated her when she was in Nigeria with him.
