UK Arrest Puts Spotlight on Nigerian Doctor’s Multiple Identities

A former Lagos cancer care specialist has been remanded in the United Kingdom after police said inconsistencies in his identity and travel history raised concerns during a new criminal investigation.

The 57-year-old doctor, a former medical director at the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, was arrested on November 27 at Gatwick Airport and charged by Kent Police with three counts of voyeurism.

The offences allegedly occurred between 2004 and 2007 while he worked in Dartford. He denied the charges and will remain in custody until January 2, 2026.

UK records show he used several names including Frank, Femi, Olufemi and Francis and even listed different ages on official documents and social media. Prosecutors told the court these inconsistencies made him a flight risk.

The arrest comes a year after his sexual assault conviction in Lagos was overturned by the Court of Appeal. The Supreme Court of Nigeria is currently hearing an appeal to restore the conviction.

The case resumes on January 21 at the Maidstone Magistrates’ Court.
