European football’s governing body, UEFA has announced that the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League is to be “entirely redone ” following a technical error.
BlackBox Nigeria had reported the standing of the teams to compete in first knockout round of the competition, naming Manchester United to face Paris Saint-Germain.
However, in a statement, UEFA blamed a “material error” due to a “technical problem with the software of an external service provider”, announcing that the draw would be redone at 1400 GMT.
The problem was made evident when Manchester United’s name was drawn to face Villarreal, despite the fact the two clubs could not have played one another in the same group.
Meanwhile, the draw is being streamed live from UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
