In an epic fight on early Sunday morning, Nigerian-born UFC middleweight champion, Isreal Adesanya, lost to Jan Blachowicz.
The Polish fighter beat Adesanya by unanimous decision (49-46, 49-45, 49-45) to retain his light heavyweight title — which he claimed after beating Dominick Reyes by second-round TKO at UFC 253 in September.
Adesanya, who was attempting to become just the fifth fighter in UFC history to hold two titles concurrently, was handed his first career loss. His record now stands at 20-1.
Nicknamed the ‘The Stylebender’, the Nigerian remains unbeaten at middleweight where he is the current UFC champion.
