The United States Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, citing security concerns linked to the potential for protests in Nigeria’s capital city.

In a public notice obtained by BlackBox Nigeria, the embassy said affected applicants would be contacted directly with instructions on how to reschedule their appointments.

It advised visa seekers and members of the public to monitor its official website and social media channels for further updates regarding consular services.

“Due to the potential for protests in Abuja, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Applicants will be contacted with information on how to reschedule,” the statement read.

The embassy also urged U.S. citizens and applicants requiring urgent support to visit its official website for guidance.

While no further details were given about the nature of the anticipated protests, the embassy’s decision underscores heightened caution amid security concerns in the Federal Capital Territory.

Applicants are advised to await direct communication from the embassy before making further travel or appointment arrangements.
