Two Dead, Two Injured in Explosive Attack at Abuja School

A deadly explosion at the Tsangayar Sani Uthman Islamic School in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja has claimed the lives of two people, with two others injured.

The attack, which occurred on Monday afternoon, has sent shockwaves through the local community.

According to a report from Premium Times, the explosion was caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), which killed two individuals and left two others critically injured. The first fatality, initially reported as a student, was later confirmed as one of the victims of the blast. A police first information report revealed that the IEDs were brought to the school by three individuals from Katsina who had visited the owner of the school, Adamu Ashimu, before the incident occurred.

However, newstrends reported that an eyewitness claimed that students brought bomb to the school not three men as otherwise claimed by the FCT police command.

Authorities were quickly alerted, and police operatives, including officials from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, were deployed to the scene.

Mr. Ashimu, the school’s owner, has been arrested and is currently under interrogation. The police have indicated that the findings of the investigation will be made available after the interrogation is complete.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but armed groups, including some linked to the Islamic State, have been known to operate in northern Nigeria.

The explosion has raised concerns about security in the capital, as authorities continue to investigate the motives behind the attack.
