United States President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing him of being uninterested in securing peace with Russia.
The criticism came after Zelenskyy’s recent statement that peace with Russia remains “very, very far away.”
Trump took to his Truth Social platform to express his disapproval, calling the comment “the worst statement that could have been made.”
“America will not put up with it for much longer,” Trump warned.
The tension between the two leaders reportedly boiled over during a meeting at the White House on Friday, where Trump and Vice President JD Vance rebuked Zelenskyy for suggesting that Putin could not be trusted in negotiations.
The meeting was cut short, and Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington was meant to shore up support amid waning enthusiasm for US military assistance.
Despite the tense interactions, Zelenskyy sought to reassure allies while in London, expressing optimism about the US-Ukraine relationship.
“I think our relationship will continue, because it’s more than an occasional relationship,” Zelenskyy said on Sunday.
BlackBox Nigeria earlier reported that 33 European leaders reaffirmed their support for Ukraine, providing a significant loan to be repaid from frozen Russian assets.
The Trump administration is set to meet with top officials to determine whether to continue US aid to Ukraine, sparking concerns about the future of support for the war-torn country.
The situation remains volatile, with Zelenskyy’s reception in Washington shifting with the return of Trump’s influence.
