By Trouble As Aregbesola’s Commissioner Is Attacked And Stripped Naked By APC Thugs In Ondo
Mr Bola Ilori, the Osun State Commissioner for Regional Integration was beaten and clothes torn including his underwear by alleged thugs of All Progressives Congress in Ondo State simply because he was said to be a member of the Alliance for Democracy.
According to a report by Punch, Ilori was in Ondo State to attend the Zonal meeting of the APC Committee on Restructuring at the International Event Centre, Akure on Thursday, September 21st.
It was gathered that Ilori, who was not earlier scheduled to speak at the event took to the podium and moments after he left, he was ambushed by the thugs as he was speaking with journalists at the entrance of the hall. One of the thugs accosted him saying, “What are you looking for in the APC programme? You are an Alliance for Democracy member, what are you looking for here?”
His colleagues later joined in molesting the Commissioner who was later saved by other delegates including Osun State delegates who were infuriated about the scenario. Ilori was later escorted into the hall after a sympathiser offered him his shirt. The programme was disrupted by the angered delegates as Ondo and Osun later engaged themselves.
Speaking with journalists after the incident, Ilori disclosed that the attack was staged by Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr Sunday Abegunde for reasons best known to him (Abegunde) alone.
He said, ““We came here in the interest of the nation, the party calls for opinion of the people on restructuring we have done our presentation and there was no problem, only for the thugs of Abegunde, the SSG to come and harass me. “
“If I have come here today alone, it would have been another thing. It is the SSG, Sunday Abegunde, that sent them,” Ilori alleged.
This claim was however debunked by the Ondo State Commissioner of Information, Mr Yemi Olowolabi who accused Ilori of coming to the conference to cause trouble as he was not invited to the event in the first place. He also alleged that the Osun State delegates were at the event with thugs and charms as other delegates were not involved in any fracas.
Olowolabi said, “The Osun people came here with thugs, they came with charms and dangerous weapons. Why were people from Ekiti not attacked? It was very clear that they were here to cause trouble.
“We are peace-loving people in Ondo State, many people have spoken before him, there was no problem, he was not the one to speak for Osun State but tactically took over the microphone and spoke. After the incident, he even thanked his ‘army’ that they proved that they can defend themselves. This is very sad.”
