Nollywood actor and director Tope Adebayo, son of veteran actor, Adebayo Salami, has publicly addressed rumors circulating about his alleged romantic relationship with fellow actress Fathia Balogun.

In an interview with BABAIBE TV, Tope opened up about the toll the allegations have taken on him personally and professionally.

According to the filmmaker, a fellow actor in the industry has been spreading false stories alleging that he is romantically involved with Fathia Balogun.

“I’m very sad at the moment because there has been a false rumour spread about me and Fathia,” Tope said.

“An actor has accused me of dating and having sex with her, and it’s very disturbing.”

Clarifying the nature of their relationship, Tope stressed that his bond with Fathia is built purely on mutual respect and long-standing support within the film industry.

He credited Fathia as one of the key figures who encouraged him when he decided to pursue directing a role she entrusted him with despite his lack of experience at the time.

“Fathia stood by me when others doubted me. She gave me the chance to direct five of her movies even when I had no prior directing experience. She believed in me,” he said.

Tope emphasized that while his relationship with the actress is close, it remains platonic.

“Nobody can understand the depth of the love and respect we share. But it’s not romantic. Fathia is my helper and my sister in this industry, and we’ll continue to support each other forever,” he added.

The actor’s candid revelation has sparked reactions from fans and colleagues, many of whom are calling for an end to character assassination and unverified gossip within the industry.
