Al-Nassr club is set for a major overhaul as club president Musalli Al-Muammar, who oversaw the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the season, has resigned amidst a disappointing season for the Saudi Arabian football club.
According to a report from the Saudi Gazette, the current board of directors at the club is to be dissolved and a new board and president could be decided before the end of the season.
Ronaldo had joined the club in a mega money deal after the 2022 World Cup, following a highly publicised exit from Manchester United.
However, despite flashes of brilliance, the Portuguese superstar has struggled to help the club towards silverware and his frustration with the team’s performance has been visible on multiple occasions.
The club has been on a downward trajectory since Ronaldo’s arrival, with league defeats against title rivals Al-Ittihad leading to the team’s likely failure to secure the league title. Additionally, a 1-0 defeat against Al-Wehda saw them eliminated from the King Cup of Champions in the semi-final.
To add to the turmoil, manager Rudi Garcia was recently dismissed following a run of poor form.
With Al-Muammar’s resignation, the club is now undergoing a major shakeup, and it remains to be seen whether a new board and president can lead the team to success in the future.
Football fans worldwide will be eagerly watching developments in the coming days as the club navigates this challenging period.
