Tips on how to build your self-confidence

Self-confidence, simply put, is a feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities and judgment. One constant attribute of self-confident people is that they do not doubt themselves. They live with a sense of acceptance of their reality, and have control over their lives.

Here are four ways to build up your self-confidence.

1. Accept yourself the way you are.

No human is perfect. We all have our individual struggles, fears or flaws and our insatiable desires. We wish we could either add or remove something from our lives to make it perfect, but we can’t. The one thing you desire to have is something another person is currently finding a way to get rid off. This is summed up in the oft-cited saying: “one man’s meat is another man’s poison”. It might take a while, but it is something you should deliberately work on.

2. Surround yourself with positive energy.

Your environment, friends, family, choice of music, books and every other thing around you should scream POSITIVE. Be around people who genuinely care about you and want to see you grow. You are already struggling with self doubt, hence you don’t need anything making you feel worse. Your soul should constantly be uplifted.

3. Work on yourself.

Nobody loves to be yelled at or reprimanded. We all have that one flaw that we are usually called out for and each time this occurs something inside of you drops, and this affects the way you view yourself. Consider working on that flaw to become a better person for yourself majorly.

4. Do what makes you happy.

So long it is something positive, and you have already considered the pros and cons and you feel this peace within you, go ahead with what you have planned to do. People will always talk regardless of the situation. If you live life as a people pleaser, you unconsciously lose yourself and your purpose in life.

Want to know if you have attained self-confidence? Below are some acts of self-confidence.

– Doing what you believe to be right, even if others mock or criticize you for it.
– Being willing to take risks and to go the extra mile to achieve better things.
– Admitting your mistakes and learning from them.
– Accepting compliments graciously.
