Dada Olusegun, Special assistant on social media to president Bolaji Ahmed Tinubu who doubles as a member of the Strategic Committee on the Reserved Seats Bill for Women, on Tuesday reaffirmed his support for the proposed legislation as he visited the National Assembly to advocate for its passage.

In a statement shared on social media, Olusegun expressed his full solidarity with the bill, which seeks to create special legislative seats for women in a bid to improve female representation in Nigeria’s political space.

“As voting day draws near, I humbly call on all Honourable Members to vote and secure a better future for Nigerian women,” he said, urging lawmakers to prioritise gender inclusiveness.

He also praised Aminat Olasimbo Yetunde-Gold, the Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Women Affairs, for her “unmatched dedication, leadership and advocacy” towards pushing the bill forward.

The Reserved Seats Bill is aimed at addressing the persistent underrepresentation of women in Nigeria’s political institutions by allocating designated seats to women in federal and state legislatures.
