The Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to meet with United States President Donald Trump in the coming days to address growing concerns over alleged targeted attacks on Christians in Nigeria.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, disclosed the planned meeting in a post on X, noting that the discussion will focus on security challenges and recent claims of a “Christian genocide” in the country.

The announcement follows Trump’s strong criticism of the Nigerian government, accusing authorities of failing to protect Christian communities and threatening possible US military intervention and withdrawal of aid.

Bwala emphasized that both leaders are united in their stance against terrorism.

“President Trump has assisted Nigeria a lot by authorizing the sale of arms to Nigeria, and President Tinubu has adequately utilized the opportunity in the fight against terrorism,” Bwala wrote.

He added that any disagreements over whether terrorists in Nigeria target Christians specifically or citizens of various faiths would be ironed out when the two presidents meet, either at the State House in Abuja or the White House in Washington.

The Presidency maintains that Tinubu’s administration is achieving significant results in counterinsurgency efforts and remains committed to safeguarding all Nigerians, regardless of religion.
