President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to undertake a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom from March 18 to March 19, 2026, following an official invitation from King Charles III, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
The visit, the first formal state visit to the UK by a Nigerian president in 37 years will see Tinubu and his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.
State visits are a high-level form of diplomatic engagement that combine ceremonial honours with strategic talks aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
The upcoming trip marks a milestone in UK-Nigeria relations, which are among the most significant between Britain and African states, with trade and cooperation spanning security, economic development and cultural exchange.
Tinubu and King Charles have met previously on the sidelines of international events, and their governments have emphasised shared interests in strengthening political and economic partnerships.
Detailed programmes for the March visit are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
