President Bola Tinubu has appointed Rotimi Pedro as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), alongside three other top executives.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, the presidency described it as a strategic move to strengthen national broadcasting as a tool for unity and soft diplomacy.

Pedro, a Lagos native, brings more than two decades of experience in broadcasting, sports rights management, and media consulting.

His career includes leadership roles at Bloomberg Television Africa and other notable media outfits.

In the same announcement, the president named Karimah Bello, from Katsina State (North-West), as Executive Director of Marketing; Stella Din, from Plateau State (North-Central), as Executive Director of News; and Sophia Mohammed, from Adamawa State (North-East), as Managing Director of NTA Enterprises Limited.

According to the statement, the appointments take immediate effect.

The new leadership team is expected to reposition NTA to better serve its mandate of promoting national unity, fostering social cohesion, and enhancing Nigeria’s image internationally.

The new NTA management is tasked with revamping content quality, expanding audience reach, and ensuring the broadcaster remains competitive in the rapidly evolving digital media space.
