Tinubu Honours Ken Saro-Wiwa, Ogoni eight Activists National Award Posthumously

In celebrating the achievement of heroes on Democracy Day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred posthumous national honors on Ken Saro-Wiwa, the renowned environmental activist, and the Ogoni Nine.

The awards, announced at the joint session of the national assembly on Thursday during the Democracy Day celebrations saw many celebrated for their heroic act in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

The Ogoni Nine, who were honored alongside Ken Saro-Wiwa, include Saturday Dobee, Nordu Eawo, Daniel Gbooko, Paul Levera, Felix Nuate, Baribor Bera, Barinem Kiobel, and John Kpuine.

The awards recognize the sacrifices made by these individuals in their fight for human rights, environmental protection, and democracy in Nigeria.
