Tinubu eyes victory as more aspirants step down for him

A former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun has stepped down from the race for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This comes moments after the immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio withdrew his presidential ambition to support the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Like Akpabio, Amosun declared his intention to step down for his political benefactor, while addressing delegates at the special convention of the APC currently holding at Eagle Square in Abuja.

Speaking immediately after the senator, the governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi also withdrew from the race to support Tinubu’s candidacy.

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole also stepped down for the former Lagos State governor.

Senator Ajayi Borrofice and the governor of Jigawa State, Abubakar Badaru followed suit and withdrew from the race to back the APC National Leader.

In a rather interesting move, the only woman in the race, Barr. Uju Ebeze Kennedy Ohanenye also stepped down for Tinubu.

This sudden gale of withdrawals mean Tinubu might just heading towards victory at the APC presidential primary, though voting is yet to commence, at the time of filing this report.
