Death has again crept into the political circle of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State following the demise of one of its leaders, Alhaji Abideen Olukayode Anifowose, on Thursday.
The passing of the 82-year-old grassroots politician, interestingly, makes it the fourth time that Ikorodu Division will be bidding farewell to a political leader since the beginning of the year 2022.
Educay General
On Thursday, January 6, a popular political figure and member of the APC Apex group in Ikorodu Division, Alhaji Omotayo Adesegun Musbaudeen Olufowora, popularly called ‘Educay General’ died at the age of 80.
Until his death, Baba Olufowora was the founder of the Olufowora Group, one of the most followed political groups in Ikorodu Division. In accordance with Islamic rites, his remains were buried the following day at a Muslim Cemetery in Igbalu in the Imota area of Ikorodu.
Princess Aderenle Adeniran-Ogunsanya
The death of a former Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Princess Aderenle Adeniran-Ogunsanya, on Tuesday, January 25, sent shock waves across the state and beyond.
She reportedly died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital following a brief illness. Princess Aderenle Adeniran-Ogunsanya was the first daughter of Prince Adeniran Ogunsanya, a prominent political leader during Nigeria’s First Republic.
The Ikorodu-born grassroots politician was also the Chairperson of the Lagos4Lagos movement, a group of disgruntled members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
Elder Reuben Olowu
In the early hours of Friday, April 8, death laid its icy hands on Elder (Chief) Reuben Adenrele Olowu (JP), about 6 days to his 77th birthday.
Olowu, who was the Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Division APC Apex Leaders, breathed his last in the United States where he was receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
He was also the leader of an APC caucus in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA of Ikorodu Division, Lagos, and a major decider in the politics of Ikorodu Constituency II.
Baba Anifowose
Barely a week after Olowu’s demise, the APC political family in Ikorodu Division was again thrown into mourning.
Alhaji Abideen Olukayode Anifowose, a leader of the ruling party in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alhaji Abideen Olukayode Anifowoshe died on Thursday, April 13 at the age of 82.
The remains of the late politician who was popularly called ‘Baba Anifowose’ was buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.
